very beginning in Genesis 2 vs. 18, “Now the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper meet ( suitable, adapted, complimentary) for him”, this shows us that marriages were designed from the beginning of human life. They were meant to provide companionship and completeness. In Genesis 2 vs. 24, it says “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall become united and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” I’m quoting from the Amplified Bible.
