via Elijah Mburu Two things come into mind after a long self imposed silence,1.Security .2.Terrorism. The President likes to remind us that the aim of terrorist attacks is to make us a decisive lot,make us fight ,suspect and hate each other.In other words that is telling us that yes,we are under attack but we are a civilized lot,dont succumb to the machinations of evil,keep your head and love each other.As Kenyans we do that,but his words are just that words,he has become decisive,hateful and manipulative. In the past one week his manipulative,blackmailing side has become evident to all and sundry.By blaming our liberties for terror attacks,that claim borders on the absurd,in New york his ambassador to the UN was busy blaming democracy for the same. Dear patriots we are living in very dangerous times.The National Security Amendment Bill 2014 a 90 page document with more than 30 amendments to different laws and statutes is abhorrent,incoherent and a product of a mind that is held in time warp. I am also sure and it is clearly evident that a majority of our MPs havent gone through it. That the President would go table banging on such a solemn national day as Jamuhuri day goes to show that the bill is not about us but himself. The quip that the bill will pass and that kama wewe hutaki labda wewe ni terrorist was not only uncalled for but a clear attempt at gagging all and corralling us like cattle. MR President my liberty is not the cause of your or your officers failures. The powers that are bestowed upon you lawfully are more than enough to ensure that we are safe,the laws bestowed lawfully to our security organs are more than enough to keep us safe,reviving Nyayo House torture chambers will not improve anything.In fact it will make matters worse. Lastly the Presidency is no longer a mystery no.It has been demystified by our constitution and always remember that on the small matter of calling people terrorists for opposing corrosion on their rights,your own Father was called the same by the Brits for opposing their brutal rule.Nothing new there.
