A complete list of email addresses can be found on the Preserve Glenway website: preserveglenway.ca/ I am writing to you regarding your request for input on the re-development proposal of the Glenway property from Marianneville Developments. My first and primary concern is the concept and wisdom of permitting any development at all. The lengthy and iterative taxpayer-funded planning process that resulted in our Town’s Official Plan includes ample development opportunities and intensification elsewhere in the Town that will meet the growth requirements of both our Region and the Province. The Town’s Plan is already exceeding targeted growth which means that we already fulfill the growth requirements set out by the Region and the Provincial Places to Grow Act. Based on the vagueness of the current development proposal and the clear uncertainty of the next phase of development (with the executive nine golf course) I have a number of additional concerns as a current resident and property owner who is affected by the proposed development of my neighbourhood. In the context of planned intense development in this part of the Town, the place we now live in will be unalterably and negatively affected by this senseless and profit-driven proposal. All residents have expressed one or many additional, specific concerns, none of which have been adequately addressed (if at all) by any actions or counterproposals on the developer’s behalf. As such, our level of trust in this company is non-existent and the level of communication they have attempted has been both minimal and intransigent. In summary, as a resident of Glenway and adjacent neighbourhoods, I strongly oppose the development and recommend that Newmarket Town council say no to the application.
