watched “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone”; on a personal note, - TopicsExpress

watched “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone”; on a personal note, I hadnt realized until after seeing this how many of Steve Carell’s movies I had seen (almost all of them) – and none of them ever really stood out. Until this year with “The Way Way Back” and “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone”, Carell roles emerge. As the retro/outdated magician, Carell remains the overtly pompous celebrity trapped within the harsh world of show business and slowly, throughout his fall and rise plants an altruistic side that continues to blossom in each scene. Comedy can often tell us more about reality than we give credit - and Carell’s plight is all too true when it comes to someone’s ego being snapped, as well as the continuing hustle for work. In that light, its Jim Carrey’s perverted look on what it means and/or what it takes to be a celebrity, in some cases foreshadowing what became of Miley Cyrus only months after this film released. And in good nature, “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” allows a mixed reaction by children to Carry’s antics – as is all too true about the way fans idolize Cyrus or Justin Bieber. And furthermore, the movie show cases one of James Gandolfini’s final roles. Released in mid-March of last year, “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” was a film ahead of it’s time, now it’s almost perfectly suited for 2013.
