well i never, a moorhen has had some chicks, her nest is on the pond island, she took them swimming today, and tonight when she took them all back to her nest, one chick got stuck in the water and could not get up the ramp thats there, this chick kept swimming around the island for around an hour, the chick was getting weaker and weaker and calling for his or her mum, the mum was panicking too, i honestly took 10 minutes making a long net that would not reach, then it was time to put some waders on, but instead i knelt down on the other side of the bank, put my hand in the water and said come on chick, chick, come to me ille help you, NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS OF EVOLUTION I THOUGHT THIS CHICK WOULD DO WHAT SHE OR HE DID, THE CHICK TURNS AROUND AND SWAM AT LEAST 20 METRES INTO MY HAND, even at 2 days old, the chick knew there was no chance of survival and made a decision against nature, knowing i was the only chance, WOW, anyway still had to put waders on to put the chick back with the mother on the island,
