what a sweetie, lets help find a forever home for him. Dana Babcock Hi Everyone, I’d like to introduce you to Ralph. Ralph needs a new home without kids… He has committed owners who have tried everything with him. Here is what they say: We are absolutely committed to rehoming Ralph asap and will do anything to assist in finding him a new loving home free from children. The reason we said a farm would be preferred is based on the exercise he requires on a daily basis and is good off leash. He has also been around horses, donkeys, barn cats, etc and didnt have any problems (he just ignored them). Ralph changed when we moved back to a small house in London ON. Prior to Ralph spent a couple years in Regina where he was around children and ran on a horse farm once a month with no concerns. Perhaps moving triggered something as well as his confinement in the city. Ralph has bit both my husband and I a year or so ago although he did give fair warning and we continued to push him and restrain him trying to cut his nails. No one else has been bit and he prefers flight as a response. If he is cornered he growls and gives good warning to back away. In terms of our daughter he growls at her from a distance and will howl/bark up close to her (although since this happened theyre separated by baby gates at all times). He has howled at children (4-8 yrs) but never acted toward them (yet...)As he was leashes on walk. Ralph gets along with most dogs, he prefers large dogs. He becomes extremely submissive to female dogs. He has in the past reacted by howling and barking at dogs he doesnt like (although rare it worries us). He has never been in a fight but we dont trust him to take him to a dog park or be surrounded by unknown dogs. We believe Ralph has anxiety as he is unpredictable and at times he can be set off by unknown triggers while other times is the perfect family pet. He chooses aggression as his reaction but on a daily basis isnt an aggressive dog. We would not be rehoming him if it werent for our daughter. We have worked with two different trainers, both recommend rehoming him asap. One was strictly obedience and the other was in home behavioural treatments. He learned basic obedience but the in home training didnt show results as our trainer wasnt sure how to help Ralph cope with his anxiety as our daughter was a major trigger for him. Ralph is up to date on all his shots and we would be able provide his past medical records to anyone interested. Here is his Bio: Hi, my name is Ralph. I am a seven year old male beagle, neutered and up to date on all of my shots. I am fully house-broke and crate-trained, and know how to sit, lay down and wait patiently for my food. I am a typical beagle: I love getting treats, sniffing out interesting scents and spending time with my people. My favorite toy to play with is a new rawhide bone. I spent most of my life out West and love it when I have lots of space to myself because I can be noisy when something catches my attention. I recently went deer hunting for the first time and enjoyed it a lot, so maybe this is a hobby we can share. I have a few dog buddies who I love to play with but I am picky about who I make friends with (dominant dogs make me uneasy) and need time to be introduced to them properly. Sometimes I get very uncomfortable when there are things that are new, confusing or scary and forget how to behave myself properly. I do not like getting my nails trimmed or going to the vet and need to be sedated or muzzled for these appointments. I find children very unpredictable, so sometimes I will bark or growl at them to warn them not to come into my space. My ideal home would be on a farm or a calm, quiet house with lots of outdoor space and not too many people coming and going. Someone who has lots of experience with dogs and is willing to help me improve my reaction to things that make me anxious would be perfect for me. I need to live in a house without children. Again thank you for your help as it is urgent Ralph finds a home asap for the safety of the child in the home. If you have questions please ask. And please share!!!! Ralph is available to child free homes subject to home, vet and reference checks. Currently Ralph is in St. Thomas, Ontario
