what are different ways to fund an infoshop without compromising radical politics? an infoshop is an openly anti capitalist space that is organized inclusively and non hierarchically. think of a communal office, event, educational and cultural space, where folks can come to network and share information and resources for building resistance based movements... landlords are the biggest barrier that prevent spaces like these from being open about their politics, since landlords benefit a great deal from capitalism. ideally the space would be owned equally by a democratic association of radicals, who are accountable to the broader community in some way, if not inclusive of the broader community. but how do we get the space free of contradictions, and the internal dynamics caused by compromising our politics? squatting a potential community space, and fighting phisically and politically is ideal, for a number of reasons, including therisk factor, thats what makes it authentic, and a no compromise situation. the mere existence of such a community center, the history if it succedes, is a powerful reminder of why it is there, and that there is no need to compromise, where there is solidarity and will of people working together, we can accomplish anything. of course such a struggle would probably mean jail time for a few militant defenders of the space, but if done strategically, and pushing the envelope every way of repression, to send a clear signal that your collective has community support and will not back down, its a guaranteed victory, untuil the next wave of repression which may come months, years or decades later, as weve seen in squat communities around the world. other than squatting, maxizing the utility of otherwise underused space, like a inbasement, or spare room, living room, whatnot, can be great, depending on the household, and how well barriers are defined and maintained in a non authoritarian or oppressive way, although barriers, authoritarianism and oppression are an issue in any spac, they become amplified in a living environment.(without oppressive codes though, an infoshop would be a living environment, naturally...) what do you think?
