what is your opinion (either as an artist, or fan) on the current position of NZ hip hop? I have noticed recently, it is becoming more widely accepted for NZ artists to have a sound, style and feel of america. (i have even seen a few dudes donning the american accent on and off stage) go back a few years ago, i was constantly told not to go down that road, not to sound american, to make sure i sound kiwi. Now a couple of times i have actually been praised on the american influence. Granted there is a solid core of nz hiphop supporters who will hate me for even bringing all of this up. But i just want to see if there overall opinion on hiphop sounding american is no longer as harsh? #thoughts?
