...while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and they that were READY went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. (Matthew 25:10) Yesterday, I had asked two fellow Christian emcees to add some backing vocals on one of my tracks. We thus set an appointment to meet at the studio at 1:00 p.m. The one brother showed up on time, but the other did not keep time, even after a 40-or-so-minute wait. The brother who was present and I thus proceeded into the recording booth and laced our part. About 5 minutes after we were done, and the brother had gone back to work, the other brother showed up; and when he did, my producer was like: WERE DONE! While reflecting on all this a few moments ago, I was reminded of the Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13), five of whom were wise, and the other five foolish (v.2). In v.3, we are told that the foolish virgins didnt bring any (extra) oil for their lamps, and consequently, their lamps went out (as their oil ran out during the course of the night). As we see from our key verse (v.10), while they went to buy oil, the Bridegroom came, and when they came back, they found the door to the marriage SHUT! This incident reminds me of a statement that I once heard, to the effect that OPPORTUNITIES OF A LIFETIME MUST BE SEIZED IN THE LIFETIME OF THE OPPORTUNITY! No wonder Paul urges us to redeem the time and make the most of every opportunity (Ephesians 5:16). Moral of the story: *PREPARE (BE READY) for opportunities IN ADVANCE; *Show up on time, and dont miss your hour of visitation; *Opportunities dont stay open forever - So dont let them pass you by! #Carpe_Diem #Seize_the_Moment!
