with apologies to Willy Wordsworths Daffolils. BINDII-EYE I - TopicsExpress

with apologies to Willy Wordsworths Daffolils. BINDII-EYE I wandered lonely as you do Through paddocks wet with morning dew When all at once they heard me cry As I struck a patch of bindi-eye All through the grass, a lurking danger To me, the unsuspecting stranger. In secrecy they lay in wait As I walked on and sealed my fate. Two hundred prickles in each patch The pain inflicted hard to match. And stinging nettles came into play An added obstacle in my way. A victim really feels distraught When by these evils he is caught. I cried in pain but knew full well These bindii-eyes could be pure hell And sometimes when I look back then Full of thought, remembering To how with bare feet I did stray And innocently walked along that way. I realise now the big mistake Of forgetting my footwear to take. With deep regret I breathe a sigh And curse the wretched bindii-eye! Bill Charlton c 2015
