with the familiar with the poster designer 65- Mary Anne Pennington Mary Anne Pennington was born in December 18, 1973 in Kansas, United States. She received her undergraduate degree in Visual Communications from the American InterContinental University in Houston, Texas 2007. She also received her postgraduate degree in Design for Communications at the University of Westminster, London United Kingdom 2009. While in the UK she took a course in photography. On returning home in 2007 she went on to win first place for her work. She is a freelance graphic designer and an instructor at two educational institutes in Houston, Texas. Social issues are very important to her and she utilizes her free time to promote awareness on many social issues, including poverty, education and gender equality. She has been involved in several international exhibitions. Some of her works include her “Poverty Trapped” poster design, which was chosen for the Good 50 x70 competition in September 2010. In October 2010 her poster was displayed at the ‘Green +You’ International Poster Exhibition at the Doosungn Paper Company in Seoul Korea. In October 2010 Mary Anne’s “WHY?” poster was selected in the “Death is Not Justice” competition and exhibited in over 50 locations worldwide, including the Louvre in Paris, France and the Peres Peace House in Jaffa, Israel. In March 2012 her “Words Hurt” poster was chosen for the Good 50 x 70 Poster Competition. In 2013 her We all need a safe haven” poster was selected as one of the top 100 designs and exhibited worldwide, December, 2013 in the Poster for Tomorrow “A Home for Everyone” exhibition. In 2014, two posters won in the Today is already tomorrow” - a tribute to Albe and Lica Steiner competition. The top 40 winning posters selected for the exhibition were shown in May 2014 at the school “IPS Albe Steiner”, Turin, Italy. Six of her poster, in total, were published and shown at the exhibition.
