wow another lame vendor report ...... I am responsible for booking the music for the Fruita Farmers Market so if an act is unable to perform Im obligated to cover the gig ..... So this morning with that being the case I packed up and went down to do a lil solo set .... I invited some of my guitar students to play a few songs as well, this being a perfect opportunity for them to reap some experience and reward them for all their hard work lately crafting a set.... anyways after their four songs were over, I could of swore I heard an obnoxiously loud shouting of TURN IT DOWN so I looked over and saw a vendor stomping around in the vicinity of were the shout had come from, & kinda let it go, thinking that surely no one would be that ridiculous especially since they were only playing acoustic guitars and no mention of excessive volume had been made previously by anyone and mostly due to the fact that the crowd & vendors all clapped very enthusiastically for the two young teenagers who had just nervously made it through their set. I started back into my solo acoustic set and after thanking everyone for being there and announcing that I was there to play some background songs for everyone and if you had any suggestions let me know and maybe I could play them ........ so who else but stomping obnoxious yelling vendor guy comes storming to the stage yelling in the middle of the entire park that if your here just for background music then TURN DOWN to which I calmly replied of course, thanks for letting me know, thats all you had to say so for the rest of the morning I went about putting on a very low volumed mellow set of music and made sure to personally thank each and every vendor several times over the mic (sans one of course) ..... the response from every other person in the park being very positive and thankful, and many of the vendors especially went out of their way to bring me drinks & food while I was performing and thanked me afterward for the amazing music ..... just a heads up to vendors .... feel free to walk up to entertainers at events and peacefully ask them to adjust the volume, if necessary, that way you dont come across to everyone in attendance like a jackass (hurting your sales more than the volume level in the long run) ... we are people too, just folks hired to do a job and happy to provide a service ...... it seems to me that common sense would dictate that you dont act like a jerk to a person with a microphone, and if your not a fan of music then maybe you should request a booth somewhere farther from the stage, maybe not right in front. That is twice this season that I have seen vendors just completely and irrationally act like prima donnas ...... dude youre a vendor, calm down, common decency goes a lot farther in the long run
