youtube/watch?v=9pQpShTpLCQ. In a number of posts, Ive mentioned how I detest World War Z. This clip sums up why. Every action sequence in this movie is a series of shaky closeups with only an occasional long shot that lasts half a second. Marc Forster employed a shaky cam style to the film, which upsets me. Not only is this style irritating and dated, but its obviously a desperate move to force an R-rated idea to be PG-13. And the more the camera shakes during the zombie scenes, the more the audience realizes the film is compromising too much. It wont deliver the blood and gore we get all the time on The Walking Dead, which is a TV show. The result is very underwhelming. I get it!! They went PG-13 because of the films exorbitant budget. But you have to ask these questions. Why spend $175 million on something that could be made for half that amount? Why spend that much money on stunts and special effects that we wont see? Why spend money on expensive CGI that makes people cringe? Why didnt they just do the books plot, which would have been cheaper? I am getting sick and tired of everything supernatural-related being nothing more than an overblown action movie. I feel that Hollywood is WASTING its potential. I just cringe when I see the trailer for Dracula Untold and all its PG-13 action. A great emasculation compared to Francis Ford Coppolas take on the bloodsucker. I also cringe at what has become of Marc Forster. He started out directing such beautifully shot films as Monsters Ball, Finding Neverland, Stranger Than Fiction, and The Kite Runner. Ever since Quantum of Solace, he has been focusing more on the shaky and choppy cinematography that has now become embarrassingly dated. Oh how the gifted have fallen.
