youtube/watch?v=pfyQHNljauk MOVIE CLIP OF THE DAY - Family Guy: The Simpsons Guy (Season 13 Episode 1) Season 13 of Seth MacFarlanes hugely successful animated sitcom got off to a rollicking start with this tribute/passing of the torch/send up type episode; which marked the first time the yellow guy and the Boston guy duked it out on screen. Peter Griffith (voice by MacFarlane himself) usually battles with another yellow man (a guy in a chicken suit). While the episode played up the strengths and weaknesses of both legendary shows, characters complement one another in the most ludicrous of ways. It was certainly a match made in TV heaven (or hell depending on how you look at it). Family Guy still might never hold a candle up to Matt Groenings pop culture world phenomenon, but it certainly is here to stay (kids, a candle is what used to create light before electricity--hey sue me, some young people actually dont know what a f^cking candle is, Ive seen it!!!!!). Veteran animation writer Patrick Meighan wrote the script along side Peter Shin directing. Along with the familiar award-winning FOX animation team (doing overtime) really churning things up to eleven (kids, again, this is a reference to an old famous Rob Reiner film called This is Spinal Tap, in which a fictional rock band often turns volume up to eleven when they listen to music--sue me, some kids today dont know that, alas it is pretty meaningless information--but useful if you want to try to type a witty reference to sound educated about media and film-never a bad thing though I suppose bad is a relative and artificial term). In writing, one must always consider his/her audience, but I write for myself first, so I wouldnt really know how to appeal to the mass education populace (perhaps) only concerned with existing/thriving in the ever-producing, ever-escalating, ever-spinning capitalistic fantasy world weve taught our children to exist in.... Funny thing is (kids-YES IM TALKING TO YOU!!!) when you start educating yourself/thinking for yourself (so to speak) the words of critics (or peers) start to make a lot less sense to you..... But I digress, what the hell was I typing just now?... In a banner year of cinematic feasts, breakthrough television and film performances its still nice to know that its the simple laughs in life that keep the world spinning...Ruffies are a bad drug kids, so are toxic mutant chilly, even when Homer eats them to hallucinate... Total write time 2.5 minutes. Not bad. No proof-reading necessary, were not trying to win a nobel prize here. If you want to win one, go right ahead; but I know that everything in life is relative, even yellow beer drinking men who have bulging eyes.
