Unfortunately for our children there arent enough years between 12th grade and kindergarten for the educators that developed this system to cram their wish list into our kids education, therefore leaving kindergarteners left holding theories of math (which their not developmentally suited yet for), multiplication of fractions, and introduction to algebra...FOR KINDERGARTEN!!! Your childs school is receiving a $4 million incentive(bribe) from the federal government to adopt the Common Core system. This money does not go toward elevating your childs education, it doesnt go to more computers, or better text books. It goes to fixing the facilities. Painting the outside of the school. Getting a new A/C unit as my sons school has informed us. Dont let your childs school ruin the foundation of his/her understanding of math, science, and reading because the educators have skipped doing their homework and took the handout. Im all for competition and challenges in education, but the stress level we deal with everyday is overwhelming. My son is the top math and science student in his class for the last two years, and the stress he endures is not healthy for a 6 year old. I wrote I will not teach my son the common core math at the top of his homework. You should do the same. Every school will have a vote of the parents to adopt this system but it will not be widely advertised as opposition will be strong...good luck.
