We would also like to update you on the email we sent December 19th, 2014 concerning the transfer status of several major budgets for scholarship students. To start, we are happy to inform you that this week CBIE received a budget transfer from Libya that included reimbursement of insurance funds for April – July 2014, as well as MLA funds for Quarter 3/Quarter 4 Supplemental List I, earmarked for 172 students. Students who will be getting payments as a result of this transfer can expect to receive an email from their CBIE Academic Manager directly. Despite the recently received transfer of funds, the current political and economic situation in Libya is regrettably contributing to further delays for various government institutions, including the Central Bank of Libya. This means that it continues to be very challenging to process and ensure the timely transfer of essential budgets. Based on this development and other information CBIE recently obtained from Libya, we anticipate additional delays in receiving the following budgets: • 2015 Quarter 1 MLA Budget • Reimbursement of Insurance Funds CBIE paid for the months of August 2014 – January 2015 (potentially impacting future insurance payments) • 2014/2015 Annual Tuition Budget • Outstanding Tafweedat Lists, such as extension MLAs and dependent tuition, from 2014 • 2014 Quarter 4 Supplemental MLA Lists II and III (mostly impacting newly activated students) CBIE continues to communicate and engage with its key stakeholders, including the US State Department, the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD), the Libyan Embassies in Washington, D.C. and Ottawa, the Central Bank of Libya, and the Ministry, to express the urgency of the situation and the implications on students in North America and to coordinate efforts in expediting the transfers whenever possible.
