For start, there is no record of such a statement by Mitusi O.S.K stating: “We are towing the fore part toward the A----n Gulf,” claimed by Mr Cooper in his article, which clearly it is a falsification of document (mol.co.jp/en/pr/2013/index.html). However, those of us interested in historical accuracy, integrity of linguistics, political impartiality and non-proliferation of international disputes would naturally insist that this historical body of water be named correctly. The Persian Gulf has been part of the identity of the people who live in the Iranian plateau for well over twenty-five centuries. People with an Iranian background including the Iranian-Americans and the British-Iranians, while respecting the multicultural mosaic of their adopted country, cherish their heritage and ancestral identity. In this light, it is very important to be accurate and to demonstrate the recognition of the international law regarding this matter. The United Nations, in two of its directives, dated August 18, 1994 and May 14, 1999, stated that “the Persian Gulf” should always be used. Additionally, a U.N. working group produced a document in 2006 establishing the history behind the name, including in contracts signed between countries dating back centuries (unstats.un.org/unsd/geoinfo/UNGEGN/docs/23-gegn/wp/gegn23wp61.pdf). Furthermore, all six Arab countries that border the Persian Gulf have signed the U.N. directive, acknowledging that the "Persian Gulf" is the internationally accepted term. I, hereby request your immediate action to rectify the mistake and to clarify to the public that the accurate internationally recognised name, which the United Staes has also endorsed and recognise as the only and official name of the body of water lies between the Iranian Plateau and the Arabian Peninsula as the Persian Gulf, and any adjective other than "Persian" or absent thereof to modify the name is inaccurate, misrepresentative, offensive and unacceptable. I will be grateful if you kindly acknowledge receipt of this email and I look forward to seeing your respected company adopting the correct naming convention on all its materials, printed or online in the future and take the necessary practical measures in order to prevent such an offensive act taking place in the future.
