وظيفه في عدن لمهندس بمنظمه Mercy Corps اخر موعد تقديم بتاريخ28.12.2014 Position Title: Field Engineer Primary Location: Aden, Yemen Position Status: Full Time PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: Mercy Corps (MC) is a non-profit, non-aligned, secular non-governmental (NGO) humanitarian relief and development organization, registered in the United States and Scotland with offices in more than 40 countries around the world, including Yemen, where the organization has recently expanded with a robust humanitarian response and youth conflict mitigation portfolio with programming and offices in Sana’a, Taiz and Aden. GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: Due to the prolonged displacement of the families that left Abyan in March 2011, Mercy Corps will support vulnerable, returnee households and communities with community infrastructure projects, repair peripheral water delivery network, and conduct an extensive hygiene promotion campaign. The Field Engineer will be responsible for the identification, design, implementation, monitoring and reporting on engineering project activities and administrative tasks in the assigned district. Manage all administration and security of MC engineering activities in the assigned areas. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Responsible for the daily implementation of project activities and progress at assigned work sites. • Oversee or create a community-based oversight system for all engineering works done by contractors. • Develop action plans for project implementation - including all technical specifications for project implementation. In collaboration with the Senior Program Officer and Program Manager. • Develop and maintain good lines of communication and relationships with local authorities and the local community. • Supervise and be responsible for all technical aspects of project implementation, ensure the are completed in a timely, efficient and accurate manner according to standard engineering methods. • Regularly update project implementation plans to the Senior Program Officer with associated time lines. • Ensure a safe working environment for all people involved in project implementation. • Is responsible for maintaining detailed work plans and written records of engineering work undertaken in the project. • Is responsible for a high degree of awareness regarding the security situation in the project area. Based upon this knowledge take adequate measures to ensure the safety of any and all MC staff and equipment in the district. • Follow all MC protocols and regulations according to guidance provided by the direct supervisor. • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission. • Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Ensure proper supervision of non-MC staff (skilled and unskilled labor) at project site. REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Senior Program Officer WORKS DIRECTLY WITH: Program Officers, Program Assistants and MEL team KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: University degree in engineering. Minimum two years work experience in engineering project implementation and supervision. Spoken and written English proficiency is essential. Proficiency in a variety of local languages preferred. Physically able to spend the long periods of time in the field.
