He was expelled from Aam Aadmi Partyfor criticising the AAP administration in Delhi. [ 2 ]Before joining Aam Aadmi Party in 2013, he contested election twice as an independent candidate and won both the times. During Delhi electionsheld in 2013, he was elected as an MLAfrom Laxmi Nagarconstituency. [ 3 ]He had defeated Dr. Ashok Kumar Walia of Indian National Congressby around 8,000 votes. [ 4 ] In December 2013, he had walked out of a meeting in which the AAP decided its members for the cabinet, but was reportedly talked out of escalating the crisis. In January 2014, Binny accused the AAP of betraying with people of Delhiand straying from principles. [ 5 ] On January 26, 2014, he was expelled from Aam Aadmi Partyin a disciplinary action and his Primary Membership of the Party was terminated. [ 2 ]Later, he moved to Delhi High Courtseeking protection of his MLARights and for continuing as an Independent Legislator.
