আজকের পত্রিকার খবর , ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আন্তর্জাতিক সম্পর্ক বিভাগের শিক্ষক ডক্টর ইমতিয়াজ আহমেদকে পাকিস্তানের করাচি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রশাসন , ক্যাম্পাসে সোস্যাল সায়েন্স ফ্যাকাল্টী আয়োজিত একটি কনফারেন্সে যোগদানের উপর নিষেধাজ্ঞা আরোপ করেছে । ডক্টর ইমতিয়াজ আহমেদ ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সেণ্টার ফর জেনোসাইড স্টাডিজ বিভাগের ডাইরেক্টর , মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময়ে পাকিস্তানিদের গণহত্যার উপর তাঁর কিছু গবেষণাকর্ম আছে , যা করাচি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পাকি অনুভূতি আঘাত করেছে । সংবাদটা থেকে একটা বিষয় সুস্পস্ট , বাংলাদেশে এক শ্রেণীর বাঙ্গালী বুদ্ধিজীবী, সমাজের ক্রিমি লেয়ার পাকিস্তানের শিশ্ন লেহন করার জন্যে , পাকিস্তানের সাথে পেছনের সব তিক্ততা অতীত ভুলে বুকে জড়িয়ে ধরার জন্যে উদগ্রীব হলেও । পাকিস্তানিদের তরফ থেকে সেই ধরনের কোন আগ্রহ নেই । নিখিল বঙ্গ পাকি ভাইয়েরা আব তো আঁখে খোলো জাগো , খুদা কি ওয়াস্তে । Karachi University Prof Imtiaz barred from attending conference Dhaka University Prof Dr Imtiaz Ahmed yesterday expressed his displeasure at Karachi Universitys decision to bar him from attending a conference on the campus. He termed the university move a barrier to freedom of speech. “I got surprised hearing the decision, but [there is] nothing to do,” he told UNB over the phone. The DU professor was supposed to present the keynote paper at the conference titled “Challenges of Transition in Social Sciences” yesterday organised by the Pakistani universitys social sciences faculty. “I was supposed to fly to Pakistan on December 1 but they have told me not to go,” said Prof Imtiaz, a teacher of International Relations and also the director of Centre for Genocide Studies at DU.
