நிரவொலி வெள்ளமண்டி நெடுவண்டமூட நிலநின்றுதம்ப மதுவப் பரமொரு தெய்வமெய்த விதுவொப்பதில்லை யிருபாலுநின்று பணியப் பிரமனு மாலுமேலை முடியோடுபாத மறியாமைநின்ற பெரியோன் பரமுத லாயதேவர் சிவனாயமூர்த்தி யவனாநமக்கொர் சரணே. -- Appar- 6-14-2 பரவிய ஓசையை உடைய வெள்ளப்பெருக்கு மேற் சென்று நீண்ட கண்டங்களை மூழ்க்க, நிலத்திலே நின்ற தீத்தம்பத்தில் பரம்பொருளாகிய ஒப்பற்ற தெய்வம் அடைய, பிரமனும் திருமாலும் இதனை ஒத்த தீப்பிழம்பு முன்னும் இல்லை என்று கருதி அந்நாளில் இரு பக்கங்களிலும் நின்று பணியுமாறு அவர்கள் அதன் முடியையும் அடியையும் அறிய முடியாமல் நின்ற பெரியோனாய் மேம்பட்ட முற்பட்ட தேவனாம் சிவமூர்த்தியாகிய பெருமானே நமக்குப் பாதுகாவல் நல்கும் சரணியன் ஆவான். when the tall universe was covered with the floods which were moving swiftly with great noise spreading everywhere. a pillar was standing in the earth and the god, the supreme being manifested in that. Piramaṉ and Māl to bow down before that saying, there is nothing comparable to this standing on both the sides. the great god whose head which is above and the feet could not be known to them. only Civaṉ who has a visible form, and who is superior to the celestials who are considered supreme, is our refuge.
