วันพุธ ที่ ๓๑ กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. ๒๕๕๖ (Wednesday, July 31, 2013) แรม ๙ ค่ำ เดือน ๘ คณะครูนักเรียนจากมหาวิทยาลัยแมสซาชูเซตส์ ดาร์ทมัธ CENTER FOR INDIC STUDIES at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, located in Dartmouth, MA, not far from the Watnawamintararachutis Thai Buddhist Temple in Raynham. This summer we are hosting a small group of public school teachers from around the USA to provide a special training for them on how to incorporate accurate information about DHARMIC TRADITIONS (Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikkism) into the school curriculum. โดยมี Dr. Jerry Solfvin, Ph.D Center for Indic Studies UMass Dartmouth North Dartmouth, MA 02747 umassd.edu/indic/ ได้ติดต่อมาเพื่อขอศึกษาวิชาพระพุทธศาสนาจากวัดนวมินทรราชูทิศ เฉลิมพระเกียรติ แห่งนครเคมบริดจ์-บอสตัน เมืองเรย์นแฮม สหรัฐอเมริกา วันนี้ก็มีบรรยากาศที่ทำให้เกิดความอบอุ่นเป็นอย่างมากโดยมีคณะสงฆ์วัดนวมินทรราชูทิศ และญาติโยมให้การต้อนรับคณะทั้งครูและนักเรียนจำนวน ๑๕ คน พอดี พระครูวินัยธรมงคล มงฺคโลได้กล่าวต้อนรับคณะและแนะนำความเป็นมาเกี่ยวกับโครงการสร้างวัดพอสมควรนำพาไหว้พระ สรรเสริญ พระพุทธคุณ พระธรรมคุณ และพระสังฆคุณ เสร็จแล้วนำเจริญจิตภาวนา หลังจากนั้นนิมนต์พระแต่ละรูปกล่าวต้อนรับ และเชิญ Mr. Ray, Dr. Dipti Madgul & Mrs. Kesinee Black กล่าวต้อนรับคณะเช่นกัน ต่อจากนั้นก็เข้าสู่เนื้อหาเรื่อง “พระพุทธศาสนา” และเปิดโอกาสให้ครูและนักศึกษาถามเกี่ยวกับความสงสัยต่างๆ ในพระพุทธศาสนาและความรู้เบ็ดเตล็ดที่สงสัย คำกล่าวต้อนรับ We have assembled here in Buddhist Summit, this first time of Teachers asnd Sudents of Umass Dartmouth to visit Wat Nawamintararachutis (NMR Meditation Center). Bauddhism originated in India and then spread over the world so that today there are Buddhists and others of many different nationalities and languages. In spite of our differences, we are all equally disciples of the same Buddha and the law of nature. This similarity (which means same mind) makes it easy for us to come together as we have today. I am and all very happy to sit before many brothers and sisters. This conference is like a family reunion. We all come from difference countries and region; this shows that Buddhism has travelled from its birthplace in India, to many parts of the globe. This phenomenon has developed over the last 2,600 years. If the Buddha and his followers had not propagated their teachings, the would not have received the nourishing waters of noble Buddhist civilization. The propagation of Buddhism has brought great benefit to the people of the world. This has been an essential activity for humankind, and not at all easy. As the Buddha taught in the famous words of the Dhammapada: Kiccho manussapaṭililabho Kicchaṁ maccāna jivitaṁ Kicchaṁ saddhammasavanaṁ Kiccho buddhanamuppādo Hard is it to be human Hard is the life of mortals Hard is it to hear the sublime truth Hard is the arising of the Buddhas As followers of the Bauddha, we wish to worship him in this manner and thereby spread his message throughout the world, so that, with peach of mind, with peach from our meditation practice, we can extend to others our loving-kindness and compassion, in the hope that they can benefit from the blessing of the triple geme. May all beings in the world live in peace and prosperity. การที่เราทั้งหลายมาประชุมพร้อมกัน ณ ที่นี้ นี้เป็นครั้งแรกของคณะครูและนักศึกษาจากมหาวิทยาลัยแมสซาชูเซตส์ ดาร์ทมัธ มลรัฐแมสซาชูเสตส์ สหรัฐอเมริกา ที่มาเยี่ยมวัดนวมินทรราชูทิศ (NMR Meditation Center) พระพุทธศาสนาอุบัติขึ้นในประเทศอินเดียแล้วแพร่กระจายไปทั่วโลก มีชาวพุทธและชาวต่างศาสนาอยู่ทั่วไปในประเทศต่างๆ แม้จะแตกต่างกันโดยเชื้อชาติและภาษา แต่ก็มีสายใยหรือเกลียวสัมพันธ์แห่งใจที่ร้อยรัดเข้าเป็นหนึ่งเดียวกัน นั่นคือในทางธรรมเราเป็นสาวกของพระพุทธเจ้าด้วยกันและของกฎธรรมชาติด้วยกันด้วย (กฎ God) ความเหมือนกันทำให้เราคบหากันได้ง่าย (เหมือนกันทางความสงบเย็น) ดังที่พวกเรามารวมตัวกันในวันนี้ ข้าพเจ้าและพระอาจารย์ทุกรูปรู้สึกสุขใจมากที่มานั่งพูดอยู่เบื้องหน้าพี่น้องชาวพุทธและชาวนานาชาติทั้งหลาย การประชุมของคณะคณาจารย์และนักศึกษาทุกคนและมวลอาตมภาพทุกรูปในวันนี้จึงเหมือนกับการกลับมาพบหน้ากันของพี่น้องตระกูลเดียวกัน การที่พวกเราซึ่งมาประชุมจากต่างประเทศและต่างเมือง ต่างวัฒนธรรม แสดงให้เห็นว่า พระพุทธศาสนาได้เดินทางออกจากถิ่นกำเนิดคืออินเดียไปยังภูมิภาคต่างๆ ของโลก ปรากฏการณ์นี้เป็นมากว่า ๒,๖๐๐ ปีแล้ว ถ้าพระพุทธเจ้าและพระสาวกของพระองค์ไม่เผยแผ่พระพุทธศาสนา โลกก็จะไม่ได้รับกระแสอารยธรรมที่ยิ่งใหญ่คืออารยธรรมแบบพุทธ การเผยแผ่พระพุทธศาสนาซึ่งสร้างคุณูปการที่ยิ่งใหญ่แก่ชาวโลก จึงเป็นเรื่องที่สำคัญมากแก่มวลมนุษยชาติ และไม่ใช่แต่จะเกิดขึ้นโดยง่ายเลย พระพุทธเจ้าตรัสไว้ในธรรมบทว่า กิจฺโฉ มนุสฺสปฏิลาโภ กิจฺฉํ มจฺจานชีวิตํ กิจฺฉํ สทฺธมฺมสฺสวนํ กิจฺโฉ พุทฺธานมุปฺปาโท แปลว่าเป็นไทยว่า ยากที่จะเกิดมาเป็นมนุษย์ ยากที่สัตว์จะมีชีวิตอยู่ได้ ยากที่จะได้ฟังธรรมของสัตบุรุษ ยากที่พระพุทธเจ้าจะอุบัติขึ้นในโลก ในฐานะชาวพุทธเราขอตั้งความปรารถนาที่จะบูชาพระพุทธองค์ในลักษณะเช่นนี้ และขอเผยแผ่คำสั่งสอนของพระองค์ไปทั่วโลก ด้วยความสงบแห่งจิตใจ ด้วยสันติภาพที่มาจากการปฏิบัติกรรมฐานของเรา เราแผ่เมตตาและกรุณาไปยังสรรพสัตว์ พร้อมกับตั้งความปรารถนาว่าขอให้สรรพสัตว์จงได้รับพรจากพระรัตนตรัย ขอสรรพสัตว์ในโลกจงมีชีวิตเปี่ยมด้วยความสุขและความเจริญโดยทั่วกัน
