そして父になる - 是枝 裕和 (Like Father, like son – Hirokazu Kore-eda) The first time I watched it I wasn’t in the mood, the second time I felt more like it but as I was on a plane, the audio was a tad rough. Kore-eda is one of my fave directors so I gave it another go and this time it was the right time in the right place, home, sweet home… Some might argue that this movie is yet another attempt at dealing with the “switched at birth” urban legend and the “Nature vs. Nurture” debate but thanks to Kore-edas craft and visual technique it’s more than that. It tells exactly what the Japanese title says, that is to become a father. The movie got a positive response from the public in many a country on top of critical acclaim, incidentally it garnered the ‘Grand Prix’ award in Cannes (2013). When I think of other Kore-eda gems such as “I wish” or “Nobody knows”, I’m amazed at the way this guy can direct kids and make them would-be Oscar nominees, simply awesome. The bad news is that Spielberg might release a remake in a near future… let me guess, two families, one Catholic, the other Jewish, dealing with the authorities in post-war Austria with Tom Hanks as a guest star. The crapgician will turn gold into shit… https://youtube/watch?v=UIeACQONp1U
