Yesterday was one such day for us. For me. We found this beautiful boy in need of urgent help. Someone had knocked him down on the road and it was all he could do to keep himself mobile by struggling on his two front legs. Gary and I were stunned as he propped himself up against the car trying to crawl up onto the seat through the door that we had left ajar as soon as wed arrived at the scene. We then lifted him carefully and lay him on the back seat to be driven to the vet. At the vet we found out he will likely not be able to use his hind legs again as his spine was hit pretty bad and his nerve registers in the lower part of his body had died. The whole time, he looked at us warm eyes, hopeful gaze and even what I could have sworn was a genuine attempt at a smile. We held him tight as the medical assistants cleaned his wounds and prepared a place for him to be warded so he could be seen to for the next few days. Each of us strengthened ourselves and spoke words of encouragement to him. I said a silent prayer. I prayed with hope but I prayed with helplessness and loss at the same time. I guess first times are expected to spark all sorts of emotional charges. There seemed to be a brick wall -- The apartment I stay at in PJ has a no pet ruling. The home of my parents in Ipoh has already given its space to our two adopted girls, Jesse and Kia and the kind lady who alerted us about the poor boy in the first place has to return overseas in a matter of days. But i told myself I would try a Facebook post: SO, if there is anyone at all who may be able to care for this beautiful 2 year old boy, or anyone who knows of anyone or any organisation that we should get in touch with in the hope that he can be taken in and cared for, PLEASE pm me.
