However it doesn’t pass equally efficiently in all spec ices. Now we know this strain passes very quickly in ferret badgers, but we don’t know if it does that in dogs. And dogs pose the greatest threat to human. 1.拉皮斯病從演化的角度來看是非常特殊的案例,此病毒幾乎有可能感染所有的溫血動物,可是,此病毒在物種與物種之間的傳播效率並不相同。我們現在知道這株病毒株在鼬獾間傳播十分快速,但我們並不知道這情形在狗與狗之間是否相同(此株病毒株是否會在鼬獾與狗之間快速傳播),而狗族若是感染將會對人族造成重大威脅(相較於其他非人哺乳動物) 2. However we won’t be able to prove that badgers won’t infect dogs for sure with only 14 dogs. Rabies is low effective in transmission if not among reservoir animals. And now what we have is a ferret badger strain.And the rabies epidemic in Taiwan is never a statistic issue, it‘s a psychological one. We only need one case of dog to make the whole country in chaos and everybody panic. 2.然而,我們並無法從僅僅十四隻狗身上證實此鼬獾拉皮斯病毒並不會感染給狗。拉皮斯病若在非傳染窩動物身上,其傳播率是極低的。 現在,我們所發現的是一個鼬獾拉皮斯病毒株,拉皮斯病的傳染性在台灣從來都不是個統計上的問題,而是個心理性的問題,只要一隻感染拉皮斯病的狗出現就會造成整個國家的混亂以及人人陷入恐慌。 3. In case there is no dogs get sick, we won’t know for sure if dog is totally safe. If the strain is proved to be not so easily transmitted to the dog (which I presumed), the test will not yield too quantitiative or qualitiative data, because of small sample size. So the data can only be used if many dogs got sick, and authority should do their best in disease control, which they should already done that in the first place. 3.(如果進行了此十四隻狗的實驗)即使沒有任何一隻狗得到拉皮斯病,我們還是無法確認狗是完全安全的。若是此病毒株被證實不會輕易感染犬隻(我是如此假設的),此項試驗在量和質方面都不會產生有意義的數據(簡言之是個沒意義的試驗),因為樣本數目過少。因此此實驗數據只有在當多數狗都生病的時候才是有用的,如果實驗結果是這樣,當局就該盡力做好疫情掌控,而疫情掌控其實是在整件事情一開始的時後就該做好的。 4. If you need scientific pilot data, just do it quietly on these low yielding tests, the subject is dog for God’s sake, they make sensitive issues everywhere in the world. And the bureau should seriously think about how will they respond to different kinds of test result scenarios . 4.如果真的那麼需要實驗數據的話,那麼就低調地進行這些產值其實不高的實驗吧。看在老天的份上,我們現在要進行實驗的對象可是狗,牠們在世界各地總是可以引起敏感的話題。同時當局應該要嚴肅思考,針對不同的實驗結果將如何因應。 6. This is also why I am so furious about their doing nothing on wild animals and stray dogs epidemic control in the wild. The animals caring groups have gathered to propose to help, especially in giving injections to the stray dogs. And the government doesn’t even care to help in organizing labeling method. Proper labeling of immunized animal is extremely important in controlling rabies in stray population. 6. 這也是為什麼我對當局在野生動物和流浪狗的疾病管制上毫無作為這麼生氣:基礎的防疫都沒有先腳踏實地去做好,各個關心動物的組織都聚集在一起表示願意幫忙,特別是在幫流浪狗注射疫苗方面;反觀政府甚至連幫忙統整出一個有效率的標記方法都做不到,適當地去標記已免疫的動物在管理流浪動物的拉皮斯病上是極其重要的!!
