'STRIKE: SUSWAM THREATENS ‘NO WORK, NO PAY’ IN BSU' Benue state Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has threatened to invoke a ‘no work, no pay’ rule on striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi chapter, if they refused to return to class. He said state-owned universities like BSU had no reason whatsoever to either join or remain on strike since it was federal universities and not states that were earlier involved in the negotiation with the federal government. Suswam said BSU had been benefiting fully from the Earned Allowances for which the federal government voted N30 billion and, therefore, had no cause to complain. The governor who was addressing communicant members of the Reformed Church of Christ in Nigeria, popularly known as NKST, at Achusa village in Makurdi on Saturday, advised the authorities of the institution to expedite action for the suspension of the strike for students to resume in the next one week or face his wrath. He said: “I don’t have any problem with lecturers at the BSU. I have been paying their Earned Allowances; I do not owe them a dime, and so I don’t see any reason for their being on strike.” --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!
