- Former US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Jendayi Frazer, has said it is only a fool who can accept that there is justice at the International Criminal Court (ICC). In an interview with one of local major dailies on Friday at Safari Park Hotel, Frazer who was in office at the time of the disputed 2007 Presidential Elections that nearly brought Kenya on the brink of collapse, said the ICC never carried any investigations regarding Kenya’s post election violence where over 1,000 people died and over half a million displaced. “Where are the forensics? Who did the actual investigation? … I feel that the victims will be most served by having cases that have real forensics so that people who actually killed them can be brought to justice and that’s not happening. The victims aren’t going to get any justice from the ICC.” Frazer said. She even admitted to have hired a lawyers “close to the ICC” specifically to look at the evidence against President Uhuru Kenyatta which, she says, informed her current position. “It did not seem consistent with my meetings with him during the post-election violence; it did not seem consistent with any of the cable traffic coming out of the US embassy at the time. They (lawyers) looked into the case and they said it’s all hearsay,” Frazer said. She urged ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda to stop coercing witnesses to incriminate President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto who were democratically elected on March 4th.
