:-) I am putting out a call for feedback about trigger warnings: I have been seeing/hearing a lot of trigger warnings lately, and I am confused. I am a severe trauma survivor and have been in therapy groups where triggers were discussed head on, and in every group it has been reiterated that triggers are the responsibility of the person who HAS the trigger, NOT the person speaking. I find this perspective to be the most helpful to me in my personal growth, and the growth of others who are interested in healing from PTSD (or C-PTSD and other anxiety disorders). I personally find the trigger warning trend online and in public forums (like poetry readings) to be constrictive and not conducive to art. Basically trigger warnings in public feel like emotional manipulation and censorship. I know that my opinion is not the same as others, and I was wondering if I could get opinions from the people who believe in trigger warnings in public forums and why they find them to be appropriate? I ask with respect and a sincere want for an open respectful dialogue Thanks!
