- This is discouraging but not surprising...note this excerpt from the article: CoinDesk contacted BTC-e for comment but was initially referred to their support facility helpfully located in Thailand, which when contacted, offered no response. Subsequent requests for comment have remained unanswered. There will be massive bumps as fiat paper transitions to decentralized crypto-currencies. Which is why, people on the crypto-currency side must spread the word and increase acceptance. Get involved. I do feel that exchanges will have and continue to have liquidity issues as their banks must deal with conversions to USD as the article mentions. Thus, what exchanges must do is make arrangements for other currencies. And this is being done at Gox as their site offers the Baht to buy and sell, but...it is disabled. With withdraws, what Gox has done to increase withdraw times is to withdraw in Yen. You do pay extra, however, with Gox, that is not their imposed fee but their banks. Think what you will about Gox, however, from experience...their response to emails and overall level of service is top notch. Plus, theyre very honest and explain to you whats going on...and whats going on overall is that the new system is conflicting with the old system. Which is why acceptance by more people is critical. Hell...you can get BitCoin for free all over the Internet. I got something like $20 worth via faucets, mining and other promotions earlier in the year when BTC was at around $100. That $20 is now worth around $200! If anyone is reading this and affiliated with BTC-e or knows someone affiliated with BTC-e...tell them to get their shit together or at least reply to customer inquiries, if this is actually the case. Because, no reply initially means to most people scam. And this will hurt your business in magnitudes. I myself believe that most on-line operations/businesses are honest as it is practically a requirement to stay in business. Word spreads fast on-line. Very fast...
