Kingdom life is not theoretical but intensely practical. Well did John the Baptist, fore runner and announcer of the King and His Kingdom announce to those who flocked to his Baptism: Matthew 3:8 (KJV)8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: #.12. Leaders: Invest in your personal spiritual growth and development. Study and pray for your own soul enrichment, not just to bless other people and be empty. Preach and teach from overflow of what the King first ministers to you and not what you fancy will make impression on the congregation. When the King walked the earth, He showed saints the way of life which would hall mark lives of Kingdom citizens in what we call the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew Chapters 5,6,7). No one living by any standard outside what He defined in the Sermon has any chance of making it into the ultimate phase of the Kingdom! Paul the Apostle state clearly what the Fruit of the Spirit consist of and no one, including leaders are exempt from manifesting those virtues in Galatians 5:22-23 Those who are in leadership have an obligation to King Yeshua, to themselves and to those who they serve to press into His fullness. Leadership cannot be validated by Title, Position or external issues but the strength which comes from a life evidently sold out to Yeshua, Jesus and manifesting His nature, Presence and Power. To seek more power for instance to do miracles or prophesy accurately without seeking a deeper, self-evident relationship with Him is to play the spiritual equivalent of a mercenary who will usher others into the ultimate phase of the Kingdom and miss it afterwards as Yeshua warned in Matthew 7:15-21. Here is what Paul said of himself in this regard: 1 Corinthians 9:27 (KJV)27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. Those in authority have a duty to ensure that their vessels are pure and clean to carry the glory and manifest the Presence of He who sent us and not just seek to display spiritual gifts! 2 Timothy 2:20-21 (KJV) 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver , but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the masters use, and prepared unto every good work. There has to be a holy halo of His Presence and Glory on leaders which convict humans of sin and point to King Yeshua who sent them. By living this way, we can boldly say to those assigned to us to follow us as we follow Yeshua, Jesus! 1 Corinthians 11:1 1 Corinthians 11:1 (KJV) 1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Get under appropriate spiritual authority, if you have none. Be accountable to a vessel assigned by Yahweh or a leadership Council for safety. To stay all alone as ultimate authority over your ministry, having no mentor or any vessel to hold you accountable is extremely dangerous! There must be at least one person or a group of people you will prayerfully give access to guide, correct or possibly rebuke if you go wrong. Getting under authority which is given to you by Abba, not flesh, personal preference or manipulation of your emotions is a healthy and safe thing to do. Romans 13:1-7. Look at it this way: if you are not under authority, you negate the ability to have the moral right to expect those given to you to submit. If you distaste, dislike or refuse the ministry of authority, you may inadvertently give Satan room to stand in accusation against you. When those under you rebel, you will lack boldness to confront them in a spiritual way. You may recourse to threats, intimidation or, worse still, something which is more dangerous, which is charismatic witchcraft (projection of your advanced soul to control their less advanced souls!) Both individual saints and ministries must strike the healthy balance between Liberty and Order by restoration of absolute Kingdom principles and Spiritual Authority. #.13. Humble yourself to align the Ministry with the Priority and Pattern of He who owns it and Who has established a pattern. Luke 19:10 is the Mission Statement of Yeshua, Jesus. Every true Congregation must be stirred and fired up through teaching and preaching to make the Great Commission the main thing for which we congregate! The location of a ministry is its Jerusalem. Leaders must come to the point of seeing locations of the ministry (Community/City) as divinely ordained for manifesting the Salt and Light of the Kingdom. The gospel of the Kingdom should be intentionally and systematically preached door to door and in public places. If the leader does not ‘see’ this, he/she will not drive it. It is easy to congregate for secondary reasons and fail to impact and impart on our host communities! The Great Commission is the reason why saints are on earth. All congregations and ministries must recapture this lost ax head! Let us say this, upfront: trying to change the pattern Yeshua set for His Church amounts to High Treason and rebellion which will be punished! That such ministries built by humanistic methods of Marketing and Public Relation seem to grow can be very deceptive. The word is clear that how we build and what we build with will be tested by the Fire of His glory and there will be great disappointment when this happens! 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 (KJV) 10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver , precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every mans work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every mans work of what sort it is.14 If any mans work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.15 If any mans work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. To build congregations according to Kingdom Pattern and Principles, these are basic ways: 13.1. Give space for emergence of 5 fold to make synergistic impact on the flock. Teach, Train, Equip, Activate and Release saints who are called in the flock you lead to function in their callings. Once they emerge, your role becomes that of Coordinator to be used by Holy Spirit to harness all those impartations from them to synergistically impact the saints in the congregation. As they emerge, give sufficient space for their inputs by ministering not more than two Sundays a month (from our experience at Arise Metropolitan Assembly in London, one Sunday a month is sufficient for the leader). Put the other ministers in a rota and do not dictate the topics or emphasis they are to take. That way they can receive from the King according to their offices and should have the liberty of style of delivery - Ephesians 4:11-16. 13.2. Let two streams of leadership service emerge in the Congregation: > The Presbytery which consists of all those called into the Five Fold as well as those with the gifts of exhortation. Let them do the Preaching, Teaching and spiritual leadership functions. As the folds other than that of the leader emerge as well as their peculiar anointing and gifting, he or she must guard the heart to avoid insecurity, jealousy or control. Affirm them, encourage them and guide them to bring forth the best that is inside their spiritual bowels. Their success is your success, if you are the Overseer. Those who come alongside Overseers must also watch their hearts. Pride, arrogance and desire to compete with them must be repented of. In speaking or carriage those in the Five Fold must avoid gift projection and self-exaltation lest they destabilize the leadership or divide the flock into carnal camps like the Corinthians did -1 Corinthians 3:1-9. Before the Five fold emerges, it is needful to prayerfully connect with vessels within the ministerial network you are part of who have what you are not given and invite them at intervals to impart and impact the flock. This way, Ephesians 4:11-16 can also take place and the saints will mature better. Do not be the only one who preaches and teaches the Congregation. > The Deaconate which consists of all those called to serve the congregation in practical issues of life – Administration; Welfare; Planning; Finances, Operating. We need to recognize the reality that not all saints are called to preach and teach, yet all are called to serve. As leaders, we must diligently inquire from the King who He made the saints to be and what He invested them as spiritual gifts for service. That way, we know the saints not according to gender, age or socio-economic status but by the Spirit. This will enable us to place them where they can serve best, according to His calling on them. Let it be noted that according to Acts 6:3, qualifications of those called to the Deaconate are not less in any way to those called to the Presbytery. This was the standard the early Church discovered by the Holy Spirit and experienced stupendous growth! We too can learn and implement this principle. Acts 6:1-7 (KJV) And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. 2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. 5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. 13.3. Activate Body Ministry in the Congregation. Teach the saints and bring them to a place where they understand that Church is not an organization but a living, loving organism. As a living, loving organism, they should prayerfully discover which part of the Body they are ordained to be. As they get trained, let them recognise how Holy Spirit manifests in and through them and yield to Him to use them to touch lives of others. It is helpful for congregational meetings to have time for Body Ministry when saints pray for each other or release messages they received for each other during the week. Even if they make mistakes at first, they will soon excel with time as they mature. Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12; Ephesians 4:7-9; 1 Peter 4:10-11 13.4. Plant new Congregations intentionally/Release easily. The normal tendency of life is to clutch at people and want to see the flock grow and become big under the visionary. The plan of Yeshua for His Church however is ‘Go Ye’. Just as 2 Timothy 2:2 says individuals should reproduce in others, Congregations should plant new ones. If ministers serving with you feel the King is calling them to start something new or releasing moods and tendencies that suggest they need to be apart, be proactive to release them joyfully, making no room for strife. If you as the leader see potentials for success in ministers serving with you and discern that heading up a new ministry is best pathway for them to be fulfilled and productive, prayerfully release them to start a new work. If any one does not seem to fit into the team you head but can fit in elsewhere in the Body, joyfully release them as unto the King. Neither you nor they may be bad. It may just be that the time appointed for working together may have expired. Staying further may breed confusion and stagnation. Divinely orchestrated separation may be the appointed solution. If Paul and Barnabass had known this truth, the only dent in their impressive record which relates to what to do with John Mark may have been averted. Let us learn from their ministry and avoid carnal quarrels over space for people to be fulfilled! Acts 15:36-41 13:5. Let Finances be managed in Transparent, Accountable manner. If you are the Overseer, it makes sense to exclude yourself from managing finances of the congregation! It is also helpful to announce to the Congregation how much they contributed either at weekly or monthly intervals. It is the King’s money as well as theirs!
