01-02-2014 The Chinese Year of The Horse... Yet in 2014 Ireland, supposedly a country with its spiritual & deep rooted connection with the horse, the amount of horse neglect, abuse & cruelty cases seems to be ever increasing in frequency & gruesomeness ... the lack of willingness on the parts of our politician/legislators to enact proper animal welfare legislation & any enforcement of appropriate punishment for such abuses & crimes is a shameful reflection on a country promoting its proud affiliation to these beautiful animals, such a shameful let down to all Irish horses... Everyone needs to start standing up against all forms of animal cruelty & speak up for these voiceless & defenceless animals, enough is enough... organisations like Animal Haven Animal Rescue, Irish Horse Welfare Trust, ISPCA & LAW to name but a few are inundated with harrowing cases of equine abuses & neglect; its worrying to think that Irish citizens can perpetrate such horrendous acts of cruelty & questionable to know if or when it will end but as long as people remain silent & ignore it, then it will continue in severity & numbers.... Hopefully 2014 The Year of The Horse, may see better fortunes care & welfare for all Irish horses, not just the famous racehorses, showjumpers & eventers
