01.04 (Português abaixo) News from Paulo: I am not sure how to start today. Every day feels like a wave and cycle in its own right. I havent made a proper update for a while... so lets start by saying that Paulo had the longest number of stable days so far. A total of four! He was so stable that I allowed myself a day off to translate a wonderful talk yesterday morning on Sociocracy and do some preparation work for the series of courses that I had helped to organise, but life decided it wasnt time for me to attend that yet. But still I didnt want to let my team down and thought it would be a good exercise of self-restraint being away from Paulo for a bit. It felt good. I really enjoyed working again, seeing friends and not thinking about hospitals 100% of the time. But I was also restless and had great pangs of gut wrenching anxiety. So not something I think I can do too often! Well, today at dawn that stability was broken by blood appearing in his tracheal tube, indicating an active bleeding in the trachea, broncho, or lungs, we dont know for sure, which made his breathing parameters go back a little bit. Hes taken some more platelets and plasma to help his blood to clot. He also had to be a little bit more sedated at night, which meant he wasnt as awake this morning as he was yesterday. However, after the morning visit, during his early afternoon clean down he put on a show (the nurses and physio seem to get all the fun!). He was awake, understood questions in Portuguese, replied to them (by mouthing or nodding, of course) and this new wonderful nurse in the ward started making lots of jokes with him and low and behold he started cracking up. Proper giggling and smiling at the things they telling them. Total moment of loud hysteria in the ward! They just couldnt contain the excitement! Of course, when we arrived he was a bit calmer, but still had his eyes open and could hear us. Late afternoon, the big procedure we were waiting for today didnt have to happen. His right lung seems to have gotten rid of the fluids alright and didnt need more intervention, so the doctor took the drain out and stitched the hole up. In his left lung, they changed the current drain to one that cant get clogged up, and seemed to have burst a sac full of water, probably meaning they might not have to do the more invasive procedure on the left lung either. What else, his markers of infection are coming down and he has been peeing more regularly, still not enough to stop the dialysis but this is still really good news. His diet changed to one with more calories and he stopped getting the intravenous diet today. So lots of good news, but there are still things that require our attention, healing vibes and fervent prayers. Clotting is the big one and getting his lungs fully back into shape. Tonight lets send some powerful clotting power to his body, healing to his lungs and regeneration to his liver and kidneys. Holding Paulo Mellett in so much love that nothing but good energies can pass. Good night. // Boletim do Paulo: Nossa nem sei como começar o post de hoje. Todo dia parece por si só uma onda cíclica. Faz dias que não dou uma atualização, então vamos começar dizendo que o Paulo teve o maior número de dias com uma certa estabilidade. Um total de quatro dias!! Ele estava tão estável que eu me permiti um dia de folga para traduzir uma palestra linda sobre Sociocracia de manhã e fazer algumas preparações para a série de cursos que eu ajudei a organizar, mas que a vida decidiu que ainda não era hora de fazê-los. Mas eu não queria desapontar meu time de trabalho e pensei que ficar longe do Paulo um pouquinho iria me ajudar a exercitar meu auto-domínio. Foi muito bom. Eu adorei trabalhar de novo, ver amigos e não pensar 100% do tempo em hospital. Mas também eu fui ficando inquieta e com o estomago embrulhado de tanta ansiedade. Então não é algo que eu possa fazer com muita frequencia! Bom, hoje de madrugada o nosso recorde de estabilidade foi quebrado pelo sangue que appareceu no tubo da traqueostomia, indicando um sangramento ativo na traquea, bronquios ou dentro do pulmão - não sabemos direito, o que fez os seus parametros pulmores retrocederem um pouco. Ele tomou bastante plaqueta e plasma para ajudar o sangue a coagular. Ele também teve ser um pouco mais sedado durante a noite, o que significou que hoje de manhã não estava tão acordado quanto ontem. Porém, depois da vista matinal, durante a sua troca/banho da tarde ele deu um show (é sempre as fisios e as enfermeiras que ganham esses presentes!). Estava acordado, entendeu perguntas em Português, respondeu para elas (com a cabeça e movimentos dos lábios) e este enfermeiro que é novo lá no andar começou a fazer um monte de piadas e brincadeiras com ele e não é que o Paulo começou a dar risada! Risada de verdade e muitos sorrisos em resposta ao que eles estavam contado a ele. Foi um momento de histeria e gritaria total na UTI! A fisio querida, as técnicas de enfermagem e o técnico novo transbordando de emoção. As pequenas vitórias! Claro que quando nós chegamos ele estava mais calmo, mas ainda de olhos abertos e nos ouvindo. No final da tarde, o grande e importante procedimento que estávamos aguardando para hoje não teve que ser feito. O seu pulmão direito pareceu que conseguiu se livrar da meleca e líquido com o dreno normal mesmo, então o médico tirou o dreno e fechou. No pulmão esquerdo, ele mudou o dreno atual para um dreno que não entope, e parece que furou uma bolsa cheia de água, o que pode ter resolvido o problema e talvez ele não precise do procedimento mais invasivo no pulmão esquerdo também. Estou rezando muito para a mãe divina interceder pelos seus pulmões! Que mais, os marcadores de infecção estão mostrando melhoras e ele começou a fazer xixi com mais regularidade, ainda não é o suficiente para parar a diálise, mas é uma boa notícia. A sua dieta foi trocada por uma que tem mais calorias e ele não precisará mais da dieta na veia. Então notícias boas, mas ainda algumas coisas que necessitam da nossa atenção, vibrações de cura e orações. Coagulação é uma delas e voltar os seus pulmões a plena potência também. Hoje à noite, vamos enviar um super poder de coagulação para o seu corpo, cura para seus pulmões e regeneração para seu fígado e rins.
