Emir of Zazzau Alhaji Shehu Idris will today in Zaria confer the traditional title of Jarmai on former Chief of Army Staff retired General Theophilus Y. Danjuma. Danjuma, who served as Defence Minister under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, is a well known philanthropist and recently donated N2.2 billion to the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, to be used in building an administrative block, a library, an auditorium, a lecture hall for the Faculty of Science. Born in Takum, Taraba State in 1938, Danjuma is the proud recipient of distinguished national honours from the Republic of Somalia, Benin Republic, from Poland and France. He was decorated with Nigeria’s second-highest national honour of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON, more than 30 years ago. The event in Zaria will be attended by top government officials, traditional rulers and business moguls within and outside Nigeria.
