03 January 2015. More than 80 participants braved 12-degree weather at the Third Annual TSgt Matthew S. Schwartz Memorial Polar Plunge on Saturday. TSgt Schwartz, a USAF EOD technician, was stationed at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Cheyenne, WY and was killed in action while deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan in January 2012. Proceeds from the plunge benefit the EOD Warrior Foundation, which serves the EOD community by providing financial assistance and support to wounded EOD warriors, families of wounded and fallen EOD warriors, and by maintaining the EOD Memorial.
