03 September 2013 Dear Sir / Mam Re: Appeal for Funds The NAC (Northern Action Committee) is deeply committed to social up- liftment and charitable outreach, working with needy families in Tongaat. PRO, Lucky Shange said the NAC is a non-political, voluntary, non-prejudicial group aiming at sustaining maximum community involvement in local affairs. The NAC being an N G O. Non-profit, public benefit organization and non-religious organization and we have to comply with the regulations of various government departments. These includes:- Department of Social Welfare [NPO] We receive approval to operate as a Non-Profit Organization [NPO]. The South African Revenue Services [PBO] P.B.O is defined in Section 30 of the Income Tax Act No. 58 of 1996. Furthermore as a registered P.B.O we are able to issue receipts in terms of Section 18A of the Income Tax Act No. 58 of 1962. This means that, subject to the conditions laid out by SARS and by including these receipts in your annual tax return, tax payers (individual and company donors) will be allowed to deduct bonafide donations in cash or in kind for their taxable income. NAC seeks to extensively help the poor –for the “Help Us – Help Them Hamper Drive”. Food Hampers will be distributed on 29 September 2013; we are once again reminded of our duty to care for the poor. We the organizing committee of NORTHERN ACTION COMMITTEE appeals to every individual who embraces the spirit of UBUNTU and donate R150.00 for which food hampers will be acquired and donated. A survey conducted by the NAC has a revealed that a large percent of families endure hardship ranging from none to minimal food, shortage of cash for such and school expenses arising from-social-economic problems and disjointed, dysfunctional families who cannot maintain a roof over their heads. The campaign aims to co-ordinate working projects; to collect canned and pre-packed foods, utensils and clothing to raise cash and distribute them to desperate and deserving families (the way of means test). Whilst you are enjoying a meal with your family and loved ones, please spare a thought for the destitute, especially little children who have nothing to eat. Your contribution can make a difference! Recognizing the need for community development and alleviating the plight of destitute, the NAC makes a broad based appeal to the community to mercifully assist them to realize the social vision. Please help us to help the poor! Open your hearts and give generously. We welcome donations of non-perishable food items and cash.
