06.18.2014_ Food For Thought “Exploring the Riches, of the Psalms” (From: Dr. John Phillips Commentary Series) DAY THIRTY THREE (He Is the Everlasting God )! Psalm Chapter-33 Compiled by Dr. M.H. Salahshurian, Ph. D This psalm, psalm 33 is closely linked with the previous psalm, psalm 32! Although we do not know who had linked these two psalms together, but we know this, they are linked by their subject; the mercy and majesty of God. Both psalms speak of Gods grace, greatness, mercy and sovereignty! One represents God as Redeemer, the other represents God as Creator! Although we do not know who had written psalm 33, but it seems it was written during the time of national crisis. The psalm reveals to us that the God Who resides in Heaven, is the God of history, for His hand can be seen controlling mans destiny, and the universe Continually, and Simultaneously! And, for this we need to praise Him and sing unto Him. Psalm 33:1-9........................Speaks of the LORD and His Praise! “Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise. For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD. By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.” Psalm 33:10-19..............Speaks of the LORD and His Providence! Psalm 33:20-22......................Speaks of the LORD and His People!
