08/24/2013 1800 CA-TNF American Fire: 23,729 acres, 67% contained. Expected containment 09/01/2013. IMT 1 (Opliger). Fire is actively burning in an old growth stand of timber with no recorded fire history. Increased fire activity as a result of warming temperatures. The northeastern portion of the fire remains active with moderate rates of spread in alignment with wind and slope. Single and group tree torching was observed along Cavanah Ridge and Deep Canyon. Backing fire from edge of firing operations continues to back into Deep Canyon at a slow rate of spread. CA-SRF Corral Complex: 11,247 acres, 0% contained. Expected containment 10/01/2013. The fire remained more active last night and is anticipated to remain active tonight. Most of the activity is expected on the ridges and higher elevations with backing, creeping, and occasional short upslope runs. The areas with the highest potential for spread are the Tish Tang area, the Horse Linto area and the Trinity Mountain area. CA-TGU Deer: 5,000 acres, 20% contained. Expected containment 08/28/2013. IMT 3 (Darnell). The fire is located 10 miles east of Los Molinos. Fire is actively burning in grass and brush and under 500KV Powerlinses. Fire has established in the Dry Creek drainage and is well established on the east end of the Ishi Wilderness. CAL FIRE IMT 2 Cone is scheduled to in brief tonight at 2000 and the team will be taking the incident Sunday morning at 0700. CA-SRF Butler: 20,770 acres, 39% contained. Expected containment 09/15/2013. IMT 1 (Quesinberry). Good progress was made on the west side of the fire south of Orleans Mountain Lookout to secure the line with gound and aerial ignition operations. A moist cold front with possible showers may impact fire spread throughout the day with minimal spread expected. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for the fire area for possible thunderstorm activity through 1700 on 8/25/2013. CA-PNF Hough: 513 acres, 90% contained. Expected containment 08/24/2013. IMT 2 (Nunez). Nearing containment with limited fire activity expected. New starts and hold overs from lightning during the earlier weather system continue to be a concern. Crews will continue to patrol and mop up in the fire area. CA-KNF Salmon River Complex: 14,547 acres, 95% contained. Expected containment 08/25/2013. IMT 2 (Wakoski). Crews observed an active backing surface fire with occasional torching. Crews will continue to mop up and patrol along constructed handlines.
