India maintains its second position in ICC ODI team rankings after Australia. {}{} The Assam government has decided to recommend a CBI inquiry into the recent incident of violence along the Assam- Nagaland border. In a press release last night, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said the state government will hand over the case to the CBI to find out the truth. He said, the first priority of the government is to restore peace in the affected areas and to send back displaced persons to their homes. More from our correspondent: The CBI probe would find out the truth behind the violence at Assam Nagaland border in Golaghat district. Official sources said , miscreants from Nagaland killed 9 persons at Uriamghat on 12th of this month and torched down 600 houses. Around 10 thousand displaced villagers have taken shelter at relief camps. Following the killing of innocent people at border areas, protest emerged in Golaghat district. Situation is improved now in Golaghat district as no untoward incident has been reported during last 48 hours. All 10 IM men have been charged with causing explosions and keeping explosives in a lodge in the Hindpidi area of Ranchi in Jharkhand. Rajesh Sinha, AIR News, Ranchi. {}{} The Anti-Corruption Bureau of the Maharashtra police has sought permission from the state government to conduct an open inquiry against Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and state NCP chief Sunil Tatkare following a complaint by an activist who has alleged corruption in 12 irrigation projects. Besides the two top NCP leaders, the social activist has also sought inquiry against several public servants of the Konkan Irrigation Development Corporation. Our correspondent has filed this report; The Permission sought by the Mumbai Anti-Corruption Bureau to conduct an enquiry comes in wake of a complaint registered by social activist Pravin Wategaonkar alleging corruption in 12 irrigation projects in the state. The complaint alleges that Pawar and Tatkare during their stint as Water Resources Minister along with officials of the Konkan Irrigation Development Corporation had allegedly favoured a particular group in the past decade in complete violation of rules. Besides there were irregularities in awarding tenders resulted in losses to the public exchequer and were contrary to the public interest. Chidambaram, Gulam Nabi Azad and Susheel Kumar Shinde as they did not respond to the notices issued to them with respect to the Telangana agitation. The court had earlier issued notices with regard to a complaint seeking registration of FIRs against former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and several Union Ministers. Two lawyers filed a complaint alleging that the then central ministers were responsible for the violence that took place during the Telangana agitation and they sought registration of a criminal case against all of them. The court issued bailable warrants as Chidambaram, Shinde and Azad have not responded despite receiving the court notices. The court will further hear the case on September the 8th. {}{} Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has denounced the hooting of non-NDA Chief Ministers at functions attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that political parties must maintain decorum. The government had on Thursday barred the release of the film citing apprehensions of law and order problems. {}{} Rural Development Minister Nitin Gadkari has urged parliamentarians to allocate funds from their MPLAD for construction of toilets in villages, schools and anganwadis. In his letter to MPs, Mr Gadkari said this will help achieve the vision of Nirmal Bharat by 2019 and in eliminating the scourge of open defecation. For the second time since it mobilised thousands of supporters for anti-government protests in Islamabad demanding Sharifs resignation, the core committee of the Imran Khan-led PakistanTehreek-i-Insaf Party met and discussed the current crisis. The meeting took place after senior leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi handed over the resignations, including that of Khan, to Secretary of the National Assembly Muhammad Riaz, mounting further pressure on the beleaguered government. The resignations do not affect the stability of the government which enjoys a majority with ruling the PML-(N) having 190 members in a House of 342. After the first round of talks on Wednesday both Khans PakistanTehreek-i-Insaf and the cleric the Tahirul Qadri-led Pakistan Awami Tehreek had suspended dialogue with the government. {}{} back home: In Jammu and Kashmir, a portion of land close to a sensitive forward area near the Line of Control caved in last night, triggering apprehensions of a cross-border tunnel near an Indian post in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district. The Army has launched an on-the-spot investigation. A senior Army officer said that during patrolling in the area, army troops found the ground caved-in at the forward area along the LoC. The caved-in spot was near the stretch where militants had made an infiltration bid on the 22nd of July last year.
