AL-KHALIL, - Member of the Palestinian Legislative Council for Change and Reform Bloc Khalil Rab’i confirmed that the Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails lack the sufficient number of blankets and clothes as winter approaches. Shortly after his release from Israeli jails, MP Rab’i said in an executive interview with the PIC that Israeli Prison Service (IPS) has recently escalated its punitive measures against Palestinian prisoners in parallel with the Israeli military campaign in al-Khalil. Israeli punitive measures include denying prisoner visits whether family members or lawyers, night raids, and denying access to the prison canteen, according to his statements. MP Rab’i warned that the prisoners’ detention condition will get worse during winter as they suffer accurate shortage of blankets and clothes in light of the continued Israeli ban on family visits. He stressed the importance of popular solidarity events and activities in support of prisoners’ issue, pointing to the prisoners’ strong determination and steadfastness in Israeli jails.
