09.30.13 Veterans Institute Building on the success of the Heroes Work Here initiative—which we launched in March 2012 with a commitment to hire more than 1,000 veterans by 2015, a goal that we’ve already surpassed—Disney will host the Veterans Institute at Walt Disney World on Thursday, November 14. The daylong, complimentary workshop is designed to help small- and mid-sized companies build effective veteran-hiring programs of their own. The Veterans Institute is the latest effort in our company’s long history of respect and appreciation for the U.S. Armed Services. For participants, the Veterans Institute will truly be an inspirational event. This complimentary one-day Veterans Institute program is designed to provide education, examples, resources and contacts to rapidly build and implement an effective Veteran hiring program. Details of the event are as follows: Date: November 14, 2013 Location: Walt Disney World, Orlando, FL Start Time 8:00 AM-continental breakfast Conclusion: 7:00 PM Highlights from the day include: Opening & Keynote comments Panel discussions centered around Veteran hiring and resources & tools available; panelists include: Department of Labor, Veterans Affairs, U.S. Chamber, Joining Forces Department of Defense and Syracuse University-Institute for Veterans & Military Families Veteran & business panel: Veterans will describe their journey from the military to Disney and Disney business leaders will discuss their learning’s and success in hiring Veterans Three specially designed courses from Disney Institute: quality service, selection training & engagement and leadership excellence with a focus on Veteran hiring Closing keynote followed by an evening networking session Non profit partners and numerous government agencies presentations throughout the day with information tables on services they provide An evening event featuring a bit of Disney Magic!
