Weve said nothing goes ahead in that corridor unless the council is happy. The developers would have been doing double-back flips of joy at the time. They may not be able to get Jeff McCloy up as mayor again, but Im sure theres plenty of puppets who will be willing to stand, and have their entire campaigns paid for by developers, or sham companies measuring 8 by 5 set up by the developers. The cost of a STATE campaign for a member seems to come in at around $150,000 judging by the ICAC evidence. For a local government campaign its going to be a lot less. Compare that to the profits from constructing a 20 storey building on the rail corridor - its chump change! These decisions will affect the people of Newcastle for many generations to come, and despite earlier promises hed speak to us after the meeting, he generously gave us 90 seconds of his valuable time. Dont ever set foot in this city again, Baird. Every time you do, its destruction. Remember the date, 28 March 2015. This state government must atone for its sins properly - by being chucked out.
