1/14/15 Strong Armed Robbery *UPDATE* The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division reports the arrest of a second suspect in connection with the robbery which occurred at the Citgo Gas Station on W. Main Street in the Village of Owego on January 12th. Investigators apprehended Herbert W. Truesdail (right-hand side), age 30 of 32 Spaulding Hill Rd, Owego, on January 13th. Truesdail was charged with Burglary 1st, a class B Felony, and was committed to the Tioga County Jail on $125,000 cash bail or $250,000 bond, by Town of Owego Justice, Patrick Hogan. Sheriff Deputies responding to the initial 911 call of the robbery on January 12th apprehended Jeffrey B. Whitmore (left-hand side) after a brief foot chase. Whitmore, age 29 of 6198 State Route 17c, Endicott, was charged with Robbery 1st, Burglary 1st, and Kidnapping 2nd, all class B Felonies. He also was committed to the Tioga County Jail on $125,000 cash bail or $250,000 bond by Justice Patrick Hogan. Investigators say that Whitmore forced his way into the residence of a Citgo Gas Station employee, on Ivory Foster Road in the Town of Owego and kidnapped three occupants. Whitmore forced his victims to take him to the Citgo Station on W. Main Street in the Village of Owego. While at the Station, Whitmore took an undisclosed amount of currency, and fled on foot. He was apprehended by Sheriff Deputies after a brief foot chase. In an unrelated case, Investigators have also filed charges on Whitmore and Truesdail in connection with a strong armed robbery that occurred at the John Barleycorn Tavern on Front Street in the Village of Owego, on December 24th, 2014. Both Whitmore and Truesdail were charged with Robbery 3rd and Burglary 3rd, class D Felonies. Both suspects were arraigned before Village of Owego Justice, David Boland. They were committed to the Tioga County Jail on these charges in lieu of $150,000.00 cash bail or $250,000.00 bond. Whitmore and Truesdail are scheduled to reappear in the Village of Owego Court on January 20, 2015 at 10:30am.
