Mudslinging has always been a hobby horse for Indians in public life for donkey’s year. Our very own ‘God of cricket’ is also no different. He has chosen to take a plunge by commenting on nefarious character in Indian cricket but only after several winters! Of course the claimant is more credible by any standard without a reasonable doubt but such theatrical revelation no matter how truthful it might be, will always come with skepticism and seen as casting aspersions. After all he should have hit the iron while it was hot. What is baffling is the mute silence he maintained all these years without making a remonstration. It is unclear if he purposefully wanted to stay away from getting embroiled in controversies or was it to fulfil a selfish objective. Many would agree that the Master himself had the prerogative to make a foot down and cut the crap shorter, which in turn could have changed the history of cricket over last half a decade. It needs some temerity to confront so great an authority as Sachin, but it strikes one as surprising that, he chose to open up in the pages of his biography. In the process a rare display of weakness emerges that we dread to associate with the such an achiever.
