1,168 RD&C projects approved in third Rolling Plan of the 10th Malaysia Plan: SAMARAHAN, Sep 13 — The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (MOSTI) has approved 1,168 research, development and commercialisation (RD&C) projects, worth RM474.35 million, under the third Rolling Plan of the 10th Malaysia Plan. Its minister, Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin, said the projects were funded under seven funds which were set up to meet the needs of the country’s RD&C chain. The funds that were set up included the Science fund, Pre-Commercialisation Fund, Commercialisation of Research and Development Fund (CRDF) and the Technology Acquisition Fund (TAF), he said at a dialogue and briefing on MOSTI funds at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak here today. He said 3,452 RD&C projects were completed, out of 4,474 projects approved under the Ninth Malaysia Plan. “As of Aug 31, 2014, of the RM2.9 billion allocated for RD&C projects, RM2.3 billion in sales value has been collected,” he added. For Sarawak, Dr Ewon said 15 RD&C projects worth RM2.32 million had been approved under the Tenth Malaysia Plan so far. “During the 9th Malaysia Plan, 95 projects were approved in Sarawak involving RM44.14 million,” he added. He said the projects that had been successfully commercialised in Sarawak included the Raptor system which was capable of reducing the use of electricity by up to 50 per cent and animal feed produced from oil palm waste. Sarawak, he said, had the potential to become the main contributor in the field of science and technology because of its natural resources. — Bernama dlvr.it/3yPbCc
