1-3-5 FOR BSA GRADS IN SUMMER CUP Bloodstock South Africa graduates dominated the finish of the 2013 Gr1 Sansui Summer Cup. The 1-3-5 finishers in this R2 000 000 feature were all purchased from BSA sales – with Yorker (BSA) prevailing from Master Sabina, Tellina (BSA), Royal Zulu Warrior and Killua Castle (BSA). Yorker, who was given a perfect ride by former champion jockey Anton Marcus, slipped through down the inside and ran on strongly to prevail by a neck in the 2000m contest ahead of stable companions Master Sabina and Tellina. The Sansui Summer Cup was also a great result for trainer Geoff Woodruff, who saddled four of the first five home – Yorker, Master Sabina, Tellina and Killua Castle. The 2013 Summer Cup winner is owned by Bernard Kantor, Jim Lewis, and Markus and Ingrid Jooste. Yorker, who was bred by Amanda and Carl de Vos, was a R1 800 000 buy at the 2011 Cape Premier Yearling Sale, which was run, at the time, by BSA. By six times champion sire Jet Master (also sire of the runner up, Master Sabina), Yorker is out of Little Indian, a stakes placed winner of four races, and an Al Mufti full sister to the stakes winner Indian Squaw. A half-brother to two winners, including the Gr2 performer The Raj, Yorker has a Silvano half-brother entered on the 2014 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale. BSA would like to congratulate all the connections of the 2013 Sansui Summer Cup winner, and wishes them all the best for 2014.
