1 CHRONICLES Chapter 28 – TERESA’S EASY RENDITION 1 At Jerusalem, David gathered all the princes of Israel, the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the service groups who ministered to the king, the leaders of thousands, the leaders of hundreds, those who were in-charge of all the goods and livestock of the king and of his sons, together with the court officials, mighty men, and all men of valor. 2 King David stood up and said: “Hear, my brothers and my people: It was in my heart to build a resting-place for the Box of Contract of Jehovah and as a footstool of our God, and I’ve already made preparations for it. 3 But God told me, ‘You shall not build a house for my name, because you’ve been a man of war and have shed much blood.’ 4 But among my father’ sons, He chose Judah to be the leader, my father’s house. And out of my father’s house, He chose me to be the king of Israel for all time to come. 5 Of all my sons, for Jehovah has given me many sons, He chose Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of Jehovah over Israel. 6 Jehovah said to me: “It’s your son Solomon who shall build my house and my courtyards. I’ve chosen him to be my son, and I’ll be his father. 7 I’ll establish his kingship for all time so long he’s determined to obey my commandments and my laws, as he does now. 8 So now, in the sight of all Israel, before the community of Jehovah, and in the ears of our God, be careful to obey all the commandments of Jehovah your God, that you may continue to live in this good land, and may pass it on as inheritance to your successors for all time to come. 9 As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father and worship Him with a complete heart and a willing mind, for Jehovah searches all hearts, and reads all minds. If you seek Him, He’ll let you find Him. But if you abandon Him, He’ll turn away from you forever. 10 See, Jehovah has chosen you to build a temple. Be tough and do it!” To be continued…
