1 Corinthians 10:18-22 Look at the people of Israel. Are not - TopicsExpress

1 Corinthians 10:18-22 Look at the people of Israel. Are not those who eat the sacrifices partners in the altar? Am I saying that idols or food sacrificed to them amount to anything? No, I mean that what the pagans sacrifice is to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be partners with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot take part in the table of the Lord and the table of demons. Or are we trying to provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we really stronger than he is? Some in Corinth are losing perspective of what it means to “drink the cup of the Lord”. It’s not about the food, and not about the idols who are being sacrificed to: this is about serving two masters. This is about trying to play both sides. Exodus 34:14 says, “Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.” Deuteronomy 4:24 says, “For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.” The church is the bride of Christ, and that covenant is taken seriously by God. The Lord does not fail when it comes to faithfulness. Throughout scripture we see a loving pursuit of His people that culminates in Jesus Christ, who is everything. This is a personal relationship with Jesus. If you are being convicted about certain things or led by the Spirit of God – follow Him. Verse/Commentary courtesy of Verse-A-Day app. verse-a-day/Apps
