1) Figure out how to put on your bracelets and zip up your dresses and button your cuffs by yourself. There will be times when you will be alone, and thats good. You can and should take care of yourself. 2) Wake up early in the morning, while the sun is rising and look out of your window. Look out the window, but actually see. Understand the immensity of the world, your city, your neighborhood, your yard. Understand your insignificance. After that, comprehend your absolute and utmost importance. 3) Press the send button. Do it now. Calm down. If you don’t say it now, you never will. And youll probably come to regret it. 4) Do not sneer and scoff at happiness. Do not roll your eyes or negate sadness. They are both a part of life. Be aware that apathy is not healthy. And understand that both happiness and sadness are important. Also, they are nothing to be afraid of. 5) You are more than the amount of people who think youre pretty or funny or handsome or smart or weird. 6) That pit in your stomach when they dont text you back, it shouldn’t be there. Dont give them that power. 7) Shopping is cathartic. Buy the shoes. Or the dress. Or the fishing gear or the concert tickets. You work hard, reward yourself in the little things. But dont get crazy, still pay your rent and credit card bills. 8) It will get better, but it will never be perfect. This isnt heaven. It isnt ideal. You wont always get to do the things you want when you want. Love the moments of happiness. When they disappear, remember they will come back. Itll be a little different next time, but it will still be. 9) Be sweet to yourself. You must stop whispering evil things in your own ear. Youre doing so well. 10) Please, please, please take care of yourself. You are somebodys son, somebodys daughter, somebodys friend. You are everything to your self. You are enough.
