1.Soil Preparation: Preparing the soil for planting ensures the normal growth and development of plant. Steps in preparing the soil for planting 1. Clear and clean the area by pulling weeds by hand or with the use of sickle. 2.Dig deep and turn over the soil with a spade for sandy and a grab hoe for hard top soil. 3.Using a spading fork, pulverize clods until soil particles are proper size (about 1/2 inch) 4.After few days, turn over the soil using a spading fork. Pick up any remaining weeds and their roots. 5.Improve the texture of sandy soil by incorporating animal manure until desired soil texture is achieved. 6.If the soil is heavy (clay), incorporate sand garden soil until desired texture is reached. Direct Seeding- is the most economical way of planting vegetable. but not all type of seeds can be planted in this method. Seeds that are very small should be grown in seedling boxes are transplanted when they reach the right size. Indirect Seeding- It is applied to very small seeds like pechay and saluyot, because these seeds can only sprout near or at the surface of the soil.
