1. There will always be idiots out there. a) the White person that felt threatened and b) the manager. 2. There are laws against the action taken by the Manager. I would expect the manager to be in big trouble, unless there is more to her decision than presented here. 3. Notice the company management, once aware has jumped all over this to a) make clear this is not there normal policy b) do what can be done to smooth things over. To the extent this is an institutional issue the law will deal with it. Unfortunatley the law can not stop individual idiots. That is our responsibility to not listen to them or give them management positions.
